El pasado 10 de abril la FES México llevó a cabo la Reunión de trabajo: "Sectores Estratégicos y la Posición de México en el Mundo", donde asistieron académicos, representantes del sector privado y expertos para discutir sobre los potenciales sectores estratégicos para la economía mexicana.
En la reunión se debatió sobre las posibles estrategias del Estado mexicano para posicionar la economía del país en el sigo XXI, así como atender los retos a los que nos enfrentamos, tales como el bajo crecimiento, la creación de empleos de calidad, la formación de jóvenes altamente calificados, el cambio climático, entre otros.
Se discutió sobre cuáles podrían ser los sectores estratégicos para México, partiendo de un análisis de la matriz productiva de México por Clemente Ruiz y un análisis de la posición de México en el mundo y en las cadenas globales de valor por Luz María de la Mora. Los ponentes destacaron que México es un país abierto al mundo que tiene acceso a 33 mercados y participa en las cadenas globales de valor – sin embargo, existe un déficit en relación al valor agregado que se genera en el país.
En la segunda parte de la reunión se formaron cuatro grupos para discutir y priorizar entre sectores y tecnologías, partiendo del paradigma que “no se puede hacer todo”. Los cuatro grupos trataron las agrupaciones de sectores en recursos naturales, industria y manufactura, servicios, y sectores que requieren una alta participación del Estado. El objetivo fue de definir 3 sectores en cada grupo que podrían ser estratégicos para México, después analizar el estado actual, proyectar hacia el estado deseado en el futuro (horizonte de 10, 25 y 50 años), y definir las acciones necesarias para llegar a ese estado deseado. Se eligieron 10 sectoresestratégicos en conjunto: turismo; energías renovables; y el sector agropecuario (con biotecnología), agroindustria; farmacéutica y biotecnología; industria automotriz, aeroespacial y autopartes; servicios logísticos; servicios de cuidado; servicios digitales y servicios financieros
